Erechtheum

Erechtheum (Graece Ἐρέχθειον) est templum Athenae Poliadi dedicatum in septentrionali latere Acropolis Athenarum situm. Templum, quod hodie restat, inter annos fere 421-406 a.C.n. aedificatum est, sed in eodem loco constat iam antea stetisse templum Athenae Poliados, quod anno 480 a.C.n. a Persis deletum esse videtur.

Architectus templi coniectatur fuisse Mnesicles, sculptorem autem fuisse constat Phidiam, qui et Erechtheum et Parthenonem Pericle auctore confecit. Aedificatum est e marmore Pentelico. Praeterea ad zophoros faciendos artifices usi sunt calce ex Eleuside apportata.

Nomen accepit sive ab Erichthonio heroe mythico sive ab Erechtheo rege archaico Athenarum — qui quidem aliquando in scriptis Graecis eadem persona fuisse videntur.

This structure is beautiful in every direction. East side dedicated for Athena while west side is for Poseidon.
