Templum Simogamo

Templum Shimogamo (Iaponice 下鴨神社), rite Kamomioya-jinha (Iaponice: 賀茂御祖神社), est templum Shintoense Kyoti situm, qui constitutum aevo antiquo (circa anno 92 a.C.n.) divinitatibus Tamakushi-hime (Iaponice 玉櫛姫) et Kamotaketsunumino-mikoto (Iaponice 賀茂建角身命), incarnationi Yatagarasu, dedicatur. Locus templi est ad flumen Camonium.

In historia carissmum templum cum Templo Kamigamo putatur qui Palatium Imperatorium Kyoto proteget et verenationes Imperatorium Iaponiae sunt. Feria maixma est Aoi-matsuri (Iaponice:葵祭) die 15 Maii quisque anno celebatur cuius grex ritus a Palatio Kyotoensis ad Templum Kamigamo per Templum Simogamo iit. Et hae feris scribatur a Genji monogatari.

Anno 1994, Patrimonium totius mundi cum Templo Kamigamo regestum est.

A must-visit in Kyoto. Not the big draw of the golden or silver temples so a little smaller on the crowds. A bit of a hike (>1hr) from the main JR line at Kyoto station.

One of the “UNESCO Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto". Located at the junction of the Kamo and Takano rivers, Shimogamo shrine is surrounded by an ancient forest, with trees as old as 600 years.

京都三大祭の一つ葵祭の舞台として、古来より国家の平和祈願の神社としても有名な下鴨神社の境内は国の史跡、楼門、舞殿、神服殿、四脚中門等31棟は国重要文化財、文久3年 (1863年) に造り替えられた東殿・西殿2棟は国宝に指定されている。境内に糺の森、みたらし団子の由来となった御手洗池がある。平成6年 (1994年)【古都京都の文化財】の一つとしてユネスコ世界遺産 (文化遺産) に登録されている。

旧官幣大社で、正称は賀茂御祖神社。祭神は東殿に賀茂別雷命の母玉依姫命・西殿に外祖父賀茂建角身命。創建年代は不詳であるが京都の社寺では最も古い部類に入る。社伝では、神武天皇の御代に御蔭山に祭神が降臨したという。または崇神天皇7年に神社の瑞垣の修造の記録があるため、この頃の創建とする説がある。一説には、天平の頃に上賀茂神社から分置されたともされている。
