Heraeum (Samos)

Heraeum in Samo insula situm est sanctuarium maximi momenti deae Graecae Herae dedicatum.

Locus sanctuarii ab aetate aënea ineunte millenio tertio a.C.n. inhabitatus erat,quod situs in planitie fecunda prope ostium fluminis in mare optimam sedibus collocandis opportunitatem habuit. Cum secundo millenio exeunte terra fere 0.5 m demissa sit et aqua subterreanea scanderit sedes paludibus natis, ut putatur, relictae sunt.

Quod sanctuarium Herae postea in loco ob paludes minus opportuno exstitit, a cultu antiquiore repetere possit: Fabula nempe regionis narrat Heram sub vitice natam esse, quae in sanctuario stabat.. Inter reliquias sanctuarii aetatis aeneae effodiendas locus cultus cum arboris trunco inventus est, qui forsitan fabulam indicat.

Sanctuarium apicem saeculo sexto a.C.n. adeptum est, ut praeter Heraeum Argivum deae sanctuarium maximi momenti factum est.
